Delaware County Republican Central Committee Minutes
December 5, 2022
Old 20 Auctions 7:00 p.m.
Present: Roger Helmrichs, David Marks, Jeff Madlom, Jean Gross, Clarence Slife, Kevin L. Glanz, Doug Robbins, Lynn Sheets, Peter Buschmann, Bruce Nieman, Cher Delperdang, Judy Eckman.
Roger called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. A motions was made by Doug, seconded by Jeff to approved the minutes of the November meeting as presented. Carried. A motion was made by Pete, seconded by David to approve the Treasurer's report as written. Carried. cx
Action Item: Motion by Clarence, seconded by Kevin to pay an outstanding bill to the Dyersville Commercial for the recent election ad in the amount of $677.00. Motion carried.
Legislative Reports: Bruce reported the Farm Bureau recently hosted Rep. Craig Johnson and Sen. Dan Zumbach at their office. Education will once again be on the agenda for the upcoming legislative session in Des Moines. The Iowa Utilities Board will be meeting in February or March to have hearings and make a decision on the controversial hazardous pipeline as it pertains to eminent domain in Iowa. It was reported that Delaware County had a 62% voter turnout for the recent election.
Action Item: Motion by Doug seconded by Clarence to approve David as the replacement head of the Scholarship Committee for Bob Kugel who is moving. Carried.
Old Business:
The storage unit is in dire need of purging of non-essential campaign signs. Anyone interested in helping with this should contact Roger or Jeff. Also anyone with campaign or dinner signs should return them to storage.
New Business:
We are looking ahead to 2023. The current slate of officers are willing to continue in their respective positions. There was some discussion as to maybe changing our fundraiser to an earlier date with the hope of finding more program speakers available.
Pete thank the officers and central committee for all their efforts this year on behalf of the Republican Party.
Our next meeting will be January 9 at 7:00 p.m. at the Fairgrounds Pavilion. Meeting adjourned at 7:40.
