Chelle Adkins from the State Central Committee reported on the recent business meeting they had.  She noted there are now eight Republican groups active on Iowa college campuses.  The Iowa Victory staff are doing a good job of covering our district with various ways to encourage voting.  She will be helping with the absentee ballot chase contacting those who requested absentee ballots but have not returned them.  She mentioned the need for poll workers and shared that 13 attorneys will be available to us around the state to answer any concerns anyone has regarding election irregularities.  They are always encouraging new people to run for public office and to help reach various populations.  The Communications Committee is continuing their work on improving communications.  Nation Builder is active in 54 counties so far and is slowly increasing.  Delaware County is well ahead of the curve in our use of Nation Builder.

Katherine Kaye spoke on behalf of the Ashley Hinson campaign.  Ashley has been endorsed by the majority of Iowa Sheriffs as well as the Chamber of Commerce and Farm Bureau.  She recently held a joint rally in Dubuque and Linn counties with Governor Reynolds.  She is speaking out against various gender issues being promoted by some school districts.  She feels this is an issues between the child and their parents.

Her first debate against Liz Mathis will be this Wednesday, October 12 at 7:00 on KCRG and the seconded debate is scheduled for Oct. 18 at 7:00 on PBS.  There is a possibility she will do a video message for us at our Fall Fundraiser.

Delaware County Fall Event - Saturday, October 15.  Our fundraising dinner and auctions are this Saturday night.  Cher reported on who is still needed for help and had some volunteers.  Most bases seem to be covered at this point.  The ice cream mix is being donated by Bill Scanlan.  We will set up this Friday at noon and continue until it is done.  The speakers for our dinner are:  Mrs. Paul Pate, Steve Scheffler, Craig Johnson, and Sen. Dan Zumbach.  There will be a silent auction as well as a live auction of items donated.

Roger mentioned that Congressional candidate Harriett Hageman will be in CR promoting Iowa Candidates at the CR Victory Office on Oct. 11 @ 1:30 p.m..  Joni Ernst's Roast and Ride will be Saturday Oct. 22 at the Iowa State Fairgrounds with special guest speaker Sarah Huckabee Sanders.  The Reynolds debate will be October 17 at 7:00 p.m. to be broadcast on PBS.  Reruns of the Miller-Meeks debate are possible on PBS.

Action Items:

Motion by Judy, seconded by Paula to donate $2000 each to the Hinson and Johnson campaigns and $1000 each to Paul Pate, Brenna Bird, Todd Halbur and Roby Smith.  Motion carried.

Motion by Kevin, seconded by Clarence to increase our scholarships from two to three individuals and raise the amount given from $500 to $1000.  Motion carried.

Judy said that 1000 absentee ballot requests have been received so far at the auditor's office.  Ballots have to be in hand on election day regardless of postmark except for overseas ballots and safe at home voters.  They can be mailed or brought to the auditor's office.

Our next meeting will be November 7 at Old 20 Auctions at 7:00 p.m.

Meeting adjourned at 8:15 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Jean Gross, Secretary
