Legislative Reports: Some members attended the Lee Hein event held at the Monticello Fairgrounds recently. Joni Ernst has come out in favor of term limits as long as it includes all agency heads who are appointed and wield lots of power. Ashley Hinson held a barbeque fund raiser recently at the Linn County fairgrounds which was very well attended and had lots of good speakers.
Old Business: The Delaware County Republican Fall Fundraiser and Dinner will be held on Saturday, October 16 at Old 20 Auctions. The menu for that night is an 8 oz. pork loin grilled by the Pork Producers, baked beans, coleslaw and cheesy potatoes with dessert provided by us. Those providing desserts are: Teresa Griffith, Cher Delperdang, Roger Helmrichs, Judy Eckman, Jeff Madlom, David Marks, Pete Buschman and Jean Gross. Set up will be Friday October 15 at three o'clock in the afternoon. Several speakers have indicated they are coming for the event including Victoria Freese (head of the Young Republicans of NE Iowa), Tamara Scott, Steve Sheppler, Dan Zumbach, and Lee Hein with the possibility of a few others who have been invited. About 100 letters were sent to businesses and individuals asking for sponsorships and attendance that evening. There will be many nice items on a silent auction. Tickets in packs of ten were given to those in attendance with October 9 as the deadline for sales.
Action Items: A motion was made by Judy Eckman, seconded by Doug Robbins to publish the monthly meeting minutes on the website without finances. Motion carried.
New Business: We will need to look at caucus planning at our October meeting. Precinct chairs and secretaries are needed by October 31. The high school old gym has been reserved as well as class rooms. February 7 is the caucus date for Iowa. Caucus training sessions will be held this fall.
Please join us at our next meeting, October 4, 2021 at the Days Inn at 7pm Adjournment at 8:25.
Respectfully submitted,
Jean Gross, Secretary
